Fireside Community Rink

The Fireside Rink is one of the community’s most-loved recreational spaces!

After years of setting up a temporary rink every winter the developer, Calbridge Developments, constructed a permanent rink in the winter of 2021. The rink is available for resident use, where families, friends, and neighbours can gather throughout all seasons. Whether you’re playing a game, skating, or teaching little ones to balance on the ice, the rink offers a fun and active way to enjoy the outdoors.

Interested in volunteering?

In the winter months, the use and enjoyment of the rink relies on volunteers to ensure the ice is clear and safe for residents all winter long! Thanks to the contributions of the Bow RiversEdge Campground Society, the Rotary Club of Cochrane, and the Cochrane Lions Club, snow removal equipment was acquired for the volunteers to upkeep the rink. Volunteers are provided with the snow removal equipment manuals and an optional in-person orientation.

If you are interested in volunteering, please email info@firesideresidents.com or call 403-984-2450 to find out how you can get involved!

Amenities & Features Maintained by the HOA

Maintenance Equipment
Maintaining a full NHL-size rink requires an array of tools/equipment, some of which include: snowblowers, a snow sweeper, scrapers, shovels, and flooding equipment.

NHL-Size Ice/Asphalt Surface
A full NHL-sized surface provides ample room for ice or ball hockey games, practices, free skating, and events. The large surface allows multiple groups to enjoy the rink at once without feeling crowded.

Full Boards & Protective Perimeter
The rink is fully enclosed with professional boards. Chain link fencing extends above the boards at the ends of the rink to maintain a safe environment for community members around the rink.

Covered Outdoor Player Boxes
The covered player boxes provide sheltered space for skaters and hockey players to get dressed and rest. These areas are essential for gearing up, taking breaks, and offering protection from wind and snowfall.

Outdoor Lighting
Bright, energy-efficient outdoor lights extend rink use into the evening, making nighttime skating safe and enjoyable.
